Jean-Claude Van Damme's interview for maxim.com
November 28, 2012
With Expendables 2 out today on Blu-ray, we spoke to star Ė and action legend - Jean-Claude Van Damme about the movie, playing bad guys, and the biggest thing heís ever put in his mouth.
You're used to playing action heroes - did you mind playing the villain in Expendables 2?
I really enjoyed the role. Actors generally know the story line pretty well before signing on, so the villain role was something I thought would be both fun and a change from what Iíve done in the past. I wasn't disappointed, I had a great time doing this role.
Would you like to play more bad guys in future?
You never know, it depends on the role and the story.
What was it like having so many big stars together on one set?
Most of us knew each other, it was very collegial. We had a great time catching up on old times and new times. It was like any group that knows each other, hanging out - friends are friends regardless of what they do for a living.
What else are you working on right now?
Iím completing the editing of Eagle Path, which will be retitled. Iím pretty excited about changes and improvements weíve made to the original cut. Welcome to the Jungle - which is a comedy I was in - is also going into distribution. I have several other films under discussion, but Iím going to have to keep you waiting a bit on those!
And now: The Same 10 Questions We Always Ask Everyone! What was the last thing you had to apologize for?
Something I did wrong.
Whatís your favorite curse word?
That producer won't like it if I use his name.
Whatís the worst hangover youíve ever had?
I thought Hangover and Hangover II were pretty funny. So there really hasn't been a worst.
What was your first car?
Itís hard to remember, but it was either an Aston Martin or a Corvette. Tonka toys made a lot of cars in those days. After that I had non-exclusive use of a variety of taxi cabs.
Do you have a scar that tells a story?
I have several scars, but they don't talk to me.
Do you have a party trick?
Whatís the biggest thing youíve ever put in your mouth?
The script from Hamlet.
Whatís the one thing to remember in a fistfight?
Don't get hit!
Who was the last person to see you naked?
Jean-Claude Van Damme.
Finish this sentence: If I ruled the world for a day, I wouldÖ
Probably seek an extension.
