We are proud and honored as the Official Jean-Claude Van Damme Website to
Jean-Claude Van Damme just returned from Europe after a successful event at
the Cognac Film Festival, where he was the Guest of Honor. It was amazing -
a huge turnout of fans came to see Jean-Claude in the center of town to
receive his award.
A special hand print ceremony also took place, which was
televised locally in Cognac, among many reporters and fans that shared in
He spent a wonderful time with his family in Belgium, as we had mentioned in
April's Newsletter. Jean-Claude also visited Israel with a dear friend and
was able to tour Jerusalem during the Passover holiday.
Jean-Claude is currently in pre-production for his upcoming film called
"Second in Command," which will be directed by Simon Fellows. This movie
will begin shooting June of this year in Eastern Europe.
In the film, Jean-Claude plays an official who's just been appointed as
"Second In Command" to the U.S. Ambassador at an American Embassy in a
small, turbulent Eastern European nation. When local insurgents attempt a
coup d'etat, the nation's President takes refuge inside the embassy. The
embassy is then besieged by the well-armed insurgents. The U.S. Ambassador
is killed in the ensuing action, and now it's up to Jean-Claude and the
embassy's small detachment of U.S. Marines to fend off the attackers.
Not only is Jean-Claude preparing for "Second in Command," he's also
developing a second project called "The Hard Corps," which was written and
will be directed by his old friend, Sheldon Lettich. Sheldon, as many of
you know, wrote the screenplay for Jean-Claude's first starring vehicle,
"Bloodsport." He also co-wrote and directed "Double Impact" and
"Lionheart," two of Jean-Claude's most popular films.
In "The Hard Corps," Jean-Claude will be playing a battle-hardened combat
vet who's just spent the last 3 years fighting in Afghanistan and Iraq, and
who's hired to be a bodyguard to a former World Heavyweight Boxing
champion. The boxer has run afoul of a dangerous Rap Music Mogul, and
because of that he needs some serious protection. Jean-Claude is tasked
with assembling a team of combat vets -- "The Hard Corps" -- to guard the
boxer and his family. But interpersonal complications arise when the boxer
suspects that his sister may be falling in love with his new bodyguard.
"The Hard Corps" will pair Jean-Claude with some well-known African American
talents, and possibly even a Rap Star or two, and will most likely be filmed
in a major city in North America.
This is all very exciting news from our side. Jean-Claude is training
everyday, eating well, and focused for a year of serious work. To be honest,
he enjoys every minute of being on the set and is equally as excited to
present to you, his fans, something new and great!
We will keep you posted on the progress of the film as we receive new
Jean-Claude would like to thank all his fans from all over the world for
their continued support and belief in him.
2005-2006 is going to be a time to remember. Hold on to your seats this is
going to be the ride of a lifetime.
